Brandstifter & Nikola Dicke collect lost and found notes with the people of Greven and use them to build the Asphaltbibliotheque Greven. Lost and found slips can already be dropped off in the lost and found deposit depots in the town hall, on the market square, in Gimbte and Reckenfeld, at Greven Marketing, in the youth welfare office and in the GBS! At the beginning of October, interested citizens of all ages will invent stories together with Brandstifter & Nikola Dicke for selected lost and found notes, which will then be recorded and set to music in animated films. On the first weekend in November, participatory light drawings will be created on facades in the city to accompany the lost and found notes. The animated films and the asphalt bibliotheque are presented.

Brandstifter’s long-term archive of found texts and images (Asphaltbibliotheque) and Nikola Dicke’s performative light drawings and spatial installations have already collaborated in previous residencies (above an example from Monheim, below a video from Rheine), where Nikola Dicke & Brandstifter have engaged with communities through language, light, stories and sound. Their shared interest in ephemeral materials, urban traces and participatory formats aims to pay attention to overlooked voices and places in ECHO NOTES.
