In 2026, the city of Osnabrück celebrated the 100th anniversary of the ‘Grüne Finger’ – 13 green corridors that interweave the city with the surrounding countryside. For this occasion, I created reverse graffiti and accompanying sound collages in the Nettetal. Reverse graffiti is an environmentally friendly form of artistic intervention. The process requires no additional paint, relying instead on (high-pressure) cleaning, and is therefore resource-efficient and reversible. The drawings for the reverse graffiti are based on interviews with users, local residents and researchers. The interviews and audio recordings from the Nettetal ‘Green Finger’ were processed into sound collages that bring scientific findings, personal experiences and the sounds of nature into resonance with one another, and encourage reflection on sustainable urban development.

The ‘Green Traces’ project was developed as part of the ‘Kulturextra nature.culture.future’ initiative organised by the City of Osnabrück’s Department of Culture, in cooperation with Lega S (Nackte Mühle site) and Nette Convent. My sincere thanks go to all those who took part in the interviews.
