The Pallasseum is a listed block of flats in Berlin-Schöneberg that was built in 1977 on the site where the Sportpalast Berlin (Sports Palace) previously stood. This is why the block of flats is popularly known as the ‘Social Palace’. In 1943, Joseph Goebbels gave a speech in the Sportpalast in which he called for ‘total war’. Today, only the high-rise bunker on Pallasstraße is a reminder of fascism, war and extermination. In contrast, people from all over the world live in the Pallasseum, with whom in a workshop I developed animated films that tell stories and events from the Pallasseum. These animated films were shown in the evening as an open-air cinema and expanded in a participatory light drawing on the overhead projector and on the façades of the Pallasseum.

This project was part of the ‘In Work’ project of the Denkmal Pallas Café and the Zwitschermaschine workshop: https://www.zwitschermaschine-berlin.de/14172/events/in-arbeit/
