In her ‘Mapping Stories’ project, Dicke interviews contemporary witnesses from five locations in the Coesfeld district about their personal experiences with the territorial reform. She uses the conversations to create animated films using mixed media technology. She combines these with hand-drawn district maps by her father, who used to be a surveyor for the old district of Lüdinghausen. The films then go on tour in the places surveyed. They are projected for public viewing and initiate further dialogue. The stories that emerge from the on-site film screenings will be inserted into the existing films, resulting in a five-part film projection for the final presentation.

‘Mapping Stories’ is a project within the framework of “Signpost Change – 50 Years of Territorial Reform in Münsterland”. The organiser of the Münsterland-wide project is the Kulturbüro Münsterland. Schilderwechsel’ is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science NRW (funding programme RKP – Regional Culture Programme NRW), the Volksbank Westmünsterland eG and the Werte-StiftungMünsterland. The project is also funded by the LWL-l<ulturstiftung as part of the cultural programme for the anniversary year 2025 ‘1250 Years of Westphalia’. The patron of this cultural programme is Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
